WhatsApp has been developing several safety features, and the Meta-owned instant messaging company will now temporarily prevent users from starting new chats if they violate any of the platform's regulations or policies. The functionality is still in development and is not available in the beta version. It appears like Meta has finally understood that banning accounts for various reasons is wrong and that it may be replaced with temporary limits for specific accounts so that users can learn from their mistakes and gain access to the account in a shorter period of time rather than creating another one.
According to WaBetaInfo, future functionality will allow users to respond to certain messages but not initiate new ones. If the user is unable to initiate a new conversation, a pop-up window will appear every time they attempt to chat with another individual. The application will also alert users as to why their account has been limited, which might be for sending spam, automated, or mass messages.

"As a temporary punishment for particular offences, users whose accounts are limited from using WhatsApp will not be allowed to initiate new chats for a specified period of time. To ensure that crucial communication isn't totally cut off, it appears that limited users will still be able to read and respond to messages from already-existing conversations and groups," the tipster said in the post.

This comes after WhatsApp removes millions of accounts each month for breaking its rules, resulting in the loss of data and chat history. If reports are to be believed, the new planned feature will keep users engaged by ensuring data security and even teaching them how to use the application by following all of the rules. However, it is unclear when the business would launch the service for beta and subsequently public users.
