WhatsApp Update: WhatsApp, a popular instant messaging application, is a headline maker for testing new features. Soon after working on enhancements for video calls in the Android beta build, the company is working on allowing businesses to subscribe to its Meta Verified verification service. According to WABetaInfo, the option may be available in an upcoming build of WhatsApp.
As per the report, the option was spotted on the Android "2.24.1.21" beta version. Due to its "under development" stage, it is not rolling out to testers. In the screengrab shared in the report, the option to subscribe to "Meta Verified" is present below the "Business Profile" option of "WhatsApp Business". "Build trust with a verified badge", the description of the feature read.
The report noted that the service may replace WhatsApp Premium which ships with benefits such as custom business link and up to 10 devices support. These features will be available in Meta Verified. Subscribing to the service will be optional and limited to business users. The subscription will offer active detection and protection from impersonation for channels.

Plus, support services will ensure users have a direct medium for quick assistance and troubleshooting. The subscription will also boost discoverability for added reach. This will help customers reach out to businesses easily. On a similar note, the WhatsApp tracker spotted the Meta app working on an option to add verified badges to channels. The enhancement will offer users better authenticity to channels on the app and limit impersonation of such channels.
Apart from verification, the social media giant is working on a new theme feature to allow users to opt for a different colour scheme in certain areas of the iOS app. It will be available to beta users soon and will roll out publicly after the testing phase. Moreover, the company is rolling out the option to manage input and output devices in the beta version of the Windows app. It can help people configure peripherals such as webcam, external mic, and speakers for an enhanced experience.
