WhatsApp, an instant messaging application, tests new features at regular intervals. In the latest move to improve user experience, the company is working on an option to let people reshare status updates in which they were mentioned. According to WABetaInfo, the feature is under development in the Android beta "2.24.16.4" build. However, the option is not rolling to testers right now.

According to the report, the company was earlier spotted testing the feature to mention contacts privately in the 'Updates' tab. It allows people to mention WhatsApp phonebook users in the updates tab and send a notification about the same. The feature can let users engage with contacts via Status Updates in a better manner.

With the latest update, it appears the company is improving the feature before an official release to enable sharing of the mentioned status update. As per the screengrab shared in the report, the company is exploring a new button to allow sharing of status updates in the upcoming Android beta version. This can allow further sharing of the status updates with the contact network.

It can enhance connectivity and engagement with others in the address book. Plus, the reshare feature can be a time-saving process and simply content sharing on the go. In the absence of the feature, users resort to screenshots or screen recordings. As a second method, users can ask the uploader to share the media file privately. This option may cause delays in the status-sharing process.

Meanwhile, the company is testing a new album picker option for photos and videos. This can allow easy switching across albums such as 'Recents', 'Videos', 'WhatsApp' and more. The features are also available in the gallery tab. However, the change will redesign the gallery sheet with a selector in the album title view.
