WhatsApp Update: Meta-owned messaging application WhatsApp continues to make headlines for testing new features. In the latest update on Android, the platform is working on a new status update header layout and the feature to group multiple images and videos in a single bubble in WhatsApp Channels, according to WABetaInfo. Here are the essential details about the two features.
New Status Updates Header
Rolling out in the Android beta build '2.23.26.13', the updated UI is available to "some beta testers" on the Meta app. Based on the screengrab shared in the report, the new layout will have two buttons: a camera and a Pencil icon within the 'Status' header. These will act as an entry point to share photos, videos and other media as a status. Plus, you can also add text as an update for contacts.
The WhatsApp tracker noted that some users might be able to access these icons after tapping the three-dot menu. Currently, the company offers two floating buttons to perform these functions. However, soon after the debut of WhatsApp Channels, their placement became less prominent. The updated position can be helpful for people who post status on the app.

Auto Group Consecutive Media
In a second instance, the company is now rolling out a feature to let users auto group photos and videos sent one after the other by admins or a channel owner. The feature is available in the beta version '2.23.26.16' to some testers. The "automatic album feature" can be experimented with when sending multiple media in channels.
The photos and videos sent in one go are organised within a unified album. The followers can view the entire library by tapping on the album once. A similar functionality is already available for WhatsApp accounts within chats and groups. Media grouped as albums also support the reaction feature. It can help organise media and enhance the user experience.
