With events, users can now effortlessly organise their get-togethers on WhatsApp, be it a meal for a birthday or a virtual meeting. Anyone can start an event, and anyone can reply, allowing everyone to know who is coming.

According to the company, events will initially be available to organisations that are part of a community before becoming available to all groups in the upcoming months.

Additionally, according to the company, "keeping these groups an easy place to catch up on what’s happening in your Community would enable admins to hear from their members when answers are added to Announcement Groups. Notifications are muted for everyone, and replies are gathered together and minimised so users can see what others have said in context.”
