WhatsApp has been adding a variety of useful features in order to enhance their overall user experience eliminating all the hustle of doing the tasks in more steps than needed. In the latest update, the company has been working on a new feature for those who use the Meta-owned instant messaging platform for sharing documents.
According to the most recent report from WaBetaInfo, the WhatsApp news and upcoming feature reporting website, the platform is testing a new feature that would allow users to look over documents without actually downloading them to their phones. However, this feature is said to be only available to Android users.
This means that users will be able to preview documents shared with them by their connections before actually opening them. This will assist users in avoiding opening useless files, which can bother them. Users will be able to see previews of photographs or videos uploaded as documents, allowing them to judge and download them without having to open the file.
This will be a significant development for WhatsApp users because, up until now, users who send photographs or videos as documents have not been able to view them until they download them to their devices. Meta appears to have finally listened to user complaints and is addressing the issue.
Meanwhile, the organisation is working on more features such as contact to chat. As the name implies, the new function will propose contacts to which the user hasn't connected in a long time. It may be available for both Android and iOS, as the feature is still in beta testing. It will be at the bottom of the chat list, allowing users to reach possible fresh chats without disrupting ongoing ones. Users can also opt out of the feature if they want to.
