WhatsApp, an instant messaging application, declared a while ago that it would end support for select users on October 24 (i.e. tomorrow). The company has shared a detailed guide about the eligibility criteria to download its app. With the end of support, the version installed on these affected models will not receive any updates, including new features and security enhancements.
If you doubt that your smartphone is on the list of supported devices, you can head to settings and check the "About" section of the device. From here, if your handset is running on Android 5.0 or newer, you are on the safe list and need not worry because WhatsApp will continue to work on your smartphone.
If you are using an iPhone and the smartphone runs on iOS 12 or later, then WhatsApp will continue to offer support for the app. For JioPhone users, if the device runs on KaiOS 2.5.0 or newer, the Meta-owned app will function properly without any problems.

As for the unsupported devices, WhatsApp added that "these devices might not have the latest security updates or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp." Among the list of devices include Samsung Galaxy S2, Motorola Xoom, Sony Xperia Z, LG Optimus 2X, HTC Desire HD, Nexus 7 and a few other phones running on Android 4.1.'
For iPhones, the company said it does not offer support on "jailbroken or unlocked" handsets due to the modified nature of the OS. Hence, it is recommended that you use the phone with Apple's software and not accelerate OS privileges.
Users of these devices will be notified before the firm pulls the plug from these smartphones to ensure they shift to supported hardware. With the end of support, you cannot download the version again from the official Play Store on Android or App Store on iOS if you uninstall the package. If you wish to update WhatsApp to the latest version, consider buying a new smartphone.
