Microsoft Windows 11: Redmond-headquartered tech giant regularly brings new features for Windows 11 users in testing builds. In the latest Canary channel, the company is now testing a Voice Clarity feature that was earlier limited to Surface machines. This feature will likely roll out to other Windows machines in the upcoming build.
According to Microsoft, in the Insider Preview Build 26040, the Voice Clarity option will help improve the audio experience on Windows using AI. "Powered by low complexity AI models, Voice Clarity cancels echo, suppresses background noise, and reduces reverberation in real-time," Windows Insider Blog noted.
This option is active by default and can be used by apps that use 'Communications Signal Processing Mode', such as WhatsApp and Phone Link. It will be supported on "x64 and Arm64 CPUs". Apart from apps, games that support Communications Signal Processing Mode will also benefit from the mode.

"Applications can provide a toggle for the Deep Noise Suppression stream effect to switch between AI models for voice only communications (Deep Noise Suppression enabled, the default setting) and generic audio content (Deep Noise Suppression disabled)," Microsoft said. With the feature, users can also enjoy a clear voice experience during online meetings.
Besides Voice Clarity, the company also announced instant access to connected smartphone photos and screenshots. Using the Snipping tool, users will receive a notification when a user captures a photo or screengrab on their Android handset. Plus, the company also introduced a new Windows OS setup window, USB 80Gpbs support for the latest USB standard (on select devices), better image consumption experience on Narrator, better discoverability of screencasting and tweaks in Windows LAPS.
On a related note, the company is also introducing Copilot-based changes on the home screen of Windows 11. This is among the company's push to join the AI tech arms race. Copilot runs on OpenAI's GPT-4 and can generate images using ChatGPT maker's DALL-E 3.
