The newest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26220.7051) has one clear theme: turn Copilot into a native layer of the OS. And this time, it’s getting its own switch right inside the taskbar called Ask Copilot.

Tap once, get instant access to Copilot Vision and Copilot Voice. Meaning—you don’t need to hunt for the Copilot sidebar anymore. This is Windows positioning Copilot not as an app, but as an input surface to talk to your PC at any moment.

And to be clear: Microsoft is specifically saying this feature uses existing Windows APIs to fetch results like apps, files, and settings. It doesn’t get a privileged view into personal documents.

Handheld gaming PCs: Big upgrade

This build also matters if you care about Windows handheld gaming.

The full-screen experience Microsoft originally debuted with the ROG Ally and Ally X is now rolling out to other handhelds. MSI Claw models get it first, but more OEMs will join.

This is a big deal because FSE isn’t just a UI gimmick. It reduces context-switching friction in games, tightens the input loop, and reduces the “Desktop Windows baggage” handheld gaming PCs always suffered from.

There’s also shared audio now

This preview build also introduces Shared Audio - built on LE Audio broadcast technology – where two devices can simultaneously listen to a Windows PC audio stream on both devices. To activate, go into Quick Settings, choose both Bluetooth accessories, and turn them on, and you are good to go!

Why this build matters

Microsoft is gradually merging OS interaction with AI interaction. You don’t “launch Copilot” anymore. You just ask Windows.

We’re watching the OS become the interface layer for the AI — not the other way around.
