Microsoft WordPad News: After nearly three decades of journey, Microsoft is killing its WordPad, the feature-deficient version of the company's paid service - Microsoft Word. Sharing an update in the recent Windows Insider Blog, the company said that WordPad will no longer be installed after a user performs a clean installation of the operating system (starting with the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview build 26020 Canary channel). Plus, Microsoft noted that the service "will be removed on upgrade".
For the unversed, the company shared the first update about the deprecation of WordPad in September and said the text editor will no longer be updated. It recommended users shift to Microsoft Word for rich text document formatting. However, a noteworthy point is that the service is not free. So, here are three alternative apps you can download from the Microsoft Store to fill the vacuum of WordPad's exit.
