X Global Outage: Elon Musk's X (Formerly Twitter) one of the most popular social media platforms, went through two major outages, leaving users all over the globe confused and inconvenienced.

The first outage was reported at around 3:30 PM, with approximately 2,500 users flocking to Downdetector to report the issue and online disruptions. Reports by users suggest that they were facing crashes, app failures and problems while connecting. At 7:30 PM another outage was reported, although the reports this time were fewer in number, with the maximum count reaching approximately 1,300.

A Large-Scale Cyber Attack?

Dark Storm Team is a group of hackers that has taken responsibility for the attack. The group engaged in a Distributed Denial-of-Services attack, a post on Telegram suggests.

Currently, there is no official confirmation that would attach these outages to the hacking group, but Musk's statement proposes that it was a large-scale cyberattack that would have required extensive resources.

Commenting on the situation, Musk wrote on X: “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing …”

People from all over the globe were reporting problems in accessing X, the US and the UK were the regions that were majorly affected. 57% of the users experienced issues with the X app as per data from Downdetector in the US. 34% of users struggled to access the website, while 9% faced server errors. In the UK, 61% reported app failures, 34% encountered website issues, and 5% experienced server-related problems.
