Elon Musk's X, formerly called Twitter, continues to get media attention for new enhancements to the app. In a revamped push for videos, the company is now planning to sell vertical video ads and make it easier for users to go live. Here are all the details to know about the two latest developments around videos.
Vertical Video Ads
According to a pitch deck accessed by Ad Age, X aims to sell vertical video ads to reverse the trend of declining revenues and compete with other popular social platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. Created in August, the special focus was towards vertical video enhancements such as immersive media viewers.

This player allows an X account to expand the content to full screen and let them swipe and discover new videos. According to the deck, the media viewer is X's "fastest growing surface" with over 100 million active users daily, mostly Gen Zers.

"X has been heavily pushing video on the platform and the Immersive Media Viewer is part of this effort as it touts full screen, sound-on vertical video ads, which they claim generate higher engagement," according to Ad Age, Prerna Talreja, Crossmedia MD of digital activation said. As per the report, X claimed that "81 per cent of unique sessions on X now include video."
X Video Livestream Button
On a related note, X News Daily (@xDaily) shared that the platform is testing an addition of the new "Go Live" button within the Floating Action Button. This will make it easier for users to post livestream videos on X. The account (@swak_12) who leaked the details, claimed that an option to turn off hearts in a livestream is also undergoing testing in the trial phases.
