YouTube has just got a new feature, dubbed 'Auto Dubbing,' and the feature is now available to everyone, and the library of languages has been extended and now contains 27 languages. Previously, before the feature got introduced, big YouTube creators would make their own dubbed content, but that was something that was not feasible for every creator to do, and YouTube saw a massive opportunity to capitalize on it. Over the couple of years YouTube has modified its offering of the AI dubbing feature and is finally now available to all content creators irrespective of region, which was the limitation before.

In its official blog, YouTube has also said that it's "not just about what is said—it's how it's said." " And with that, it has also launched Expressive Speech for all channels on YouTube in 8 languages that include English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Viewers Are In Control

To better serve a multilingual audience, the platform has introduced a new Preferred Language setting that lets viewers choose how they want to experience auto-dubbed videos. While language selection was earlier handled automatically based on watch history, users can now manually set their preferences and watch content in the original language if they choose.

Enhancing Realism

In order to make the dubbing and overall experience much more engaging, the company is also testing a lip sync feature that would try to match the lip movement of the speaker on the video to the translated audio so that the newly dubbed version seems much more real.

For the Creators

YouTube also has new video-level filters that help in detecting if the video needs to be dubbed or not, like music or silent vlogs, as the company claims. It is to make the experience all the more organic.
