YouTube Pause Comments Feature: Video streaming platform YouTube regularly introduces new features and tests upcoming experiments for users. In the latest move, the company is rolling out an enhancement for creators for the comments box. The company is rolling out a comment moderation setting - 'Pause' to let creators restrict new comments from viewers on their videos.
According to YouTube, this new limit will still preserve the previous comments published at the video level. Soon after undergoing experimentation, the feature is now rolling out for creators after positive feedback during the testing phase. It allows creators more flexibility on how to manage the comments section without a break from them completely.
In the earlier mechanism, if a user had to stop new comments from being posted, the option was holding it for review or disabling them. In this new scheme, the option to opt for 'Pause' in the comments settings (the gear icon placed at the top right corner of the panel) from the Watch page in the app or YouTube Studio on desktop and mobile will be available.

Once enabled, the users will not be allowed to add new comments. But they can still view the old ones. Plus, YouTube noted it is simplifying the comments settings to ease the process of using the moderation settings. While the company has tweaked the names their use case remains the same. Once the comments moderation settings are on, you can choose from four options:
None: This setting does not limit any comments from being posted.
Basic: The setting holds "potentially inappropriate comments" for review.
Strict: The option expands the horizon of holding back these inappropriate comments for review before they get published.
Hold All: With the 'Hold All' option, you can either 'Pause' or switch off comments completely.
