YouTube, Google's popular video-sharing network, is taking more stricter tactics to counteract ad blockers and promote its premium subscription service. According to Android Authority, users around the world are receiving alerts suggesting that they disable ad blockers or pay for a YouTube Premium subscription.

A growing number of YouTube viewers who use ad blockers have encountered difficulties viewing videos in recent weeks. With this move, the company is stepping up its global campaign to get users to accept advertisements or choose YouTube Premium, which also gives them access to YouTube Music.

A YouTube representative highlighted that using ad blockers is against the platform's terms of service and stated that "billions of people can access their favourite content on YouTube thanks to ads, which support a diverse ecosystem of creators worldwide."

YouTube has already taken action against ad blockers before. The platform disabled videos for users who were using ad blockers in June. This was done first as a "small experiment" that was implemented globally. YouTube tested longer but less frequent TV ad breaks earlier this year and included 30-second unskippable adverts to its TV app.

Along with these actions, YouTube also revealed last month that it was ending its "Premium Lite" subscription option, which had been tested for two years in a few different nations. The recently introduced "Premium Lite" subscription offered ad-free streaming but lacked services like background playback, offline downloads, and YouTube Music access. This action came after YouTube Premium's family and individual plan prices increased.

Meanwhile, YouTube Music is all set to revamp the background with some gradient tones to improve the aesthetics and help the users differentiate the albums, text and other details better.
