YouTube Music, one of the emerging Spotify alternatives, which has been going through some significant changes for a while, is now reportedly testing a new revamped design of its ‘Now Playing Tab’. According to the reports, the Google-owned platform is now testing a gradient background that will offer an aesthetically pleasing look and give away a solid background.
This came after 9To5Google reported that the application is testing gradient backgrounds which are currently running with solid colours. The design language of the platform has always been subtle and Google has always tried it to keep it simple. This means that the Now Playing Tab will not significantly change except for the darker shade. The company aims to differentiate the user interface with the album image.

Additionally, the gradient will also differentiate play/pause, next/back, shuffle, and repeat because of the darker shades. Further, it is also speculated that the Up Next, Lyrics, and Related will also get redesigned. The users will also be able to queue up the songs by swiping.
The new update has not been released yet but it is expected that the Android users will see the changes in the application soon, which means users will soon be able to look for a better look along with some changes in the user interface.
Meanwhile, the application is also looking for generative AI which enables users to create artwork for their custom playlists. It will be creating the image as per the requirements with the help of AI.
The company has also introduced an animation for Android users when they open the YouTube application. The animation smoothly shows that the platform is about to open after a brief loading.
