YOUTUBE, the world's most popular video streaming platform owned by California-based technology company Google, has now provided an animated loading screen to smartphones which was earlier limited to the Android TVs.

According to Google, the new animation is a component of a brand image update intended to create a visually appealing and instantly recognisable brand image, according to 9to5Google. Old CRT TVs, a type of television that used cathode ray tubes before the development of flat-screen TVs, were said to have served as an inspiration for animation.

A new loading bar icon with the well-known YouTube play-head and a red progress bar is part of the process. This new loading screen will only appear if users have recently updated or haven't used the YouTube application in a while, similar to the Android TV version.

In the meantime, YouTube has added a number of new features for users of its Premium service, including better video quality for web and iOS users, support for watching videos with a friend on FaceTime using Apple's SharePlay, and other controls for managing their queue on mobile devices.

To give it's Premium members an even better video quality experience, the company has started offering 1080p HD video quality at an enhanced bitrate on iOS (with an experiment coming soon to the Web as well).

The company has also been putting effort into its podcast channels. The business recently added a new tab to its website to make it simpler for users to access the podcast content page. For those who are unaware, the company has positioned the Podcast tab on the channel pages between the Live and Playlist tabs.

With this move, the company hopes to make it easier for content creators to locate podcast playlists that they previously found difficult to find.
