Hyderabad News: The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force is gearing up for an exciting aerobatic performance over the scenic Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. The performances are scheduled for December 6 and 8, from 3 PM to 5 PM, promising a thrilling experience for spectators.
Flight Lieutenant Kanwal Sandhu, the team's commentator and administrator, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, stating that the audience can expect breathtaking aerial manoeuvres, including loops, rolls and inverted flying. "This weekend, make sure to look up at the sky; you might catch a glimpse of these magnificent jets soaring above," he added.
According to a Deccan Herald report, the Suryakiran Team operates the Hawk Mk 132 advanced jet trainer, which is essential for training newly commissioned pilots in the Indian Air Force. This aircraft, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), showcases India's advancements in aviation technology.
Recently, the team has made significant modifications to their Hawk Mk 132 aircraft by integrating smoke pods that produce coloured smoke. Developed at the Indian Air Force’s Base Repair Depot in Nashik, these pods enable the team to display the colours of the national flag, saffron, white and green during their performances. This enhancement not only adds a visual spectacle but also serves as a symbol of national pride.
