Hyderabad Rains: The continuous rainfall has disrupted lifestyles in several regions of Hyderabad due to several issues, including waterlogging and minor power outages. The officials stated that the capital city of Telangana has witnessed heavy rainfall for the past 24 hours, severely affecting the vehicular movements in the key areas. The officials also stated that two people have been missing in separate incidents after they fell into an open nala on Sunday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for Hyderabad and other cities of Telangana for the next few days.
While providing details, the officials stated that two people got washed away due to the heavy rain, adding that the rescue operation has not been easy due to the high flow of water. "Around 8:30 pm, due to heavy rain, two people were washed away, and a search operation is underway. The flow of water has been high, causing problems in the rescue operation," Asifnagar ACP Kishan Kumar was quoted as saying by PTI. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal inspected the affected areas and gave necessary instructions to the officials.
The weather department stated that several areas, including Jubilee Hills, Tolichowki, Shaikpet Nala, Biodiversity Junction, Raidurgam, Malakpet, and Azamabad, experienced severe waterlogging due to the heavy rainfall. It further informed that several districts of Telangana, including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nizamabad, and Mahabubnagar, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences. It further urged the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies and limit their financial activities. Apart from Telangana, several other states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, are likely to witness rainfall for the next few days.
