Hyderabad School News: All schools in Hyderabad district have been directed to remove back bench seating and adopt a U-shaped classroom layout to encourage better student participation. The order was issued by District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari during her visit to the Tribal Welfare Water Sports Academy and the Tribal Welfare Ashram Boys School in Bowenpally on Tuesday, July 15.

The Hindu Report cited the Collector as stating that, back benches often isolate students from teachers, leading to low involvement. A U-shaped seating arrangement ensures equal interaction and attention for all students, she noted. “Teachers must remove back rows and switch to U-shaped layouts so every child can be part of the learning process,” she said. This change is particularly important for schools serving marginalised communities, she added.

Her visit was part of a broader review covering school infrastructure, digital education, sports training, and hostel facilities. Emphasising the importance of sports in education, the Collector praised students who recently won medals in boating competitions in the Philippines. She also instructed schools to integrate sports into regular academic routines and identify talented students early to prepare them for national and international events.

To improve academic results, especially in Class 10, the Collector recommended special coaching in Mathematics and Physics for weaker students. She urged schools to form peer learning groups and promote teamwork among students.

Digital learning was another key focus. The Collector asked schools to increase the use of computer labs and digital classrooms, particularly for Classes 6 to 10. Teachers were also encouraged to use the TSAT platform to expand students’ knowledge in various subjects.

The overall goal, according to the Collector, is to provide balanced attention to both academics and sports, while making learning inclusive and interactive for every child.
