Hyderabad Water Cut Saturday: Residents in various parts of Hyderabad will face a temporary disruption in water supply due to scheduled maintenance at the Miralam filter beds and Himayatsagar reservoir. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced that water supply will be halted for 24 hours, starting at 6 AM on January 11 and will resume at 6 AM on January 12.

The maintenance work will involve cleaning operations at the settling tanks and inlet channels of the Miralam filter beds, as well as at the forebay of the Himayatsagar reservoir. Officials stated that these activities aim to improve the efficiency and quality of the city’s water supply system.

Certain areas will experience complete water supply interruptions during this period. Residents in the following locations under O&M Division I will be affected:

Hasannagar

Kishanbagh

Doodhbowli

Misrigunj

Pathergatti

Darulshifa

Moghulpura

Additionally, some areas under O&M Division II will face partial disruptions. These areas include:

Jahanuma

Chandulal Baradari

Falaknuma

Jangammet

In light of the impending disruption, authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to store enough water in advance to mitigate the inconvenience.

In separate news, L&T Metro Rail MD KVB Reddy announced plans to acquire additional trains for Hyderabad Metro within 18 months to address growing passenger demand. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Me Time On My Metro’ campaign on January 8, he emphasised promoting passenger discipline and enhancing cultural engagement at metro stations like MGBS. Plans include creating special hubs and developing a mega junction station for the proposed JBS-Shamirpet and Paradise-Medchal routes under Phase-2 Part-B expansion, aiming to improve passenger experience and connectivity.
