Hyderabad Weather: The city is bracing for a spell of intense rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana. The alert, effective for the next five days, warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds in many areas across the state.

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has predicted that certain areas, including Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy, will experience particularly heavy downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 30–40 km/h during this period.

Hyderabad Weather Today

The IMD’s forecast issued on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), highlighted that nine districts including Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba Gadwal — are likely to see isolated heavy rainfall through the evening and night. Thunderstorms with strong winds are also expected in all 33 districts of Telangana.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during intense rain, avoid waterlogged areas, and take basic precautions to ensure safety. With continuous rainfall, Hyderabad may face traffic disruptions, waterlogging in low-lying localities, and delays in public transport services.
