Hyderabad-Vijayawada Expressway: Telangana government has announced a new greenfield expressway between Hyderabad and Vijayawada that is expected to cut travel time to just two hours. The project is part of a larger infrastructure push aimed at improving regional road connectivity and boosting economic growth.
State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy shared this during a media interaction at Vanasthalipuram Junction, where he inspected ongoing infrastructure works. He said the planned expressway would significantly ease travel between the two cities and support faster development in the region.
Minister Reviews LB Nagar–Pedda Amberpet Corridor Progress
The minister also reviewed progress on the LB Nagar to Pedda Amberpet elevated corridor. The six-kilometre-long corridor, being built at a cost of Rs 650 crore, is designed to ease traffic congestion in some of the busiest parts of Hyderabad. It will connect with the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and offer smoother flow through Hayathnagar and Pedda Amberpet. Four vehicle underpasses under the project have already been completed, he added.

Update On Gauravelli–Bhadrachalam Highway And Other Road Projects
Updates were also shared on other major road works. The construction of the Gauravelli-Valigonda-Bhadrachalam Greenfield Highway is underway between Valigonda and Thorrur. The cost of this highway is estimated at Rs 2,300 crore, while tenders for the Thorrur to Bhadrachalam stretch are currently being processed. In addition, work has started on the Rs 375 crore road project between Andole Maisamma and Vijayawada.
Focus On Road Safety And Accident Black Spots
Venkat Reddy said that 17 accident-prone locations, marked as black spots in the state, would be taken up for road safety improvements on a priority basis.
The minister also said that the state will adopt the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) for upcoming road projects to ensure better efficiency by involving both government and private players.
