Hyderabad News: A 25-year-old woman died under unclear circumstances after reportedly falling from a flat in Hyderabad. The woman, identified as Ashwitha Singh from Odisha, had been brought to Hyderabad by a businessman, Rajesh Babu, for a surrogacy arrangement valued at Rs 10 lakh.

According to a India Today report, tensions escalated between Ashwitha and Rajesh on Wednesday, with police stating that she expressed concerns about his behaviour. According to her husband, Ashwitha was sexually harassed by the 54-year-old businessman, which he claims led her to take her own life on the night of November 25-26.

The Raidurgam police have initiated an investigation and booked Rajesh for abetment of suicide under relevant legal sections. Ashwitha had been staying in a room on the ninth floor of the My Home Bhooja residential complex for about a month, while her husband was accommodated in a separate room.

According to police Rajesh lives in the flat with his wife and family. The surrogacy procedure was scheduled to begin next month. In a discovery, officials found saris tied to an iron grill on the balcony of Ashwitha’s room, which extended from the ninth floor down to the seventh floor.

Officials suspect that Ashwitha may have attempted to escape down the makeshift rope but are also considering the possibility of an accidental fall or suicide. The investigation continues as officers gather more information regarding the events leading up to her death.

In separate news, four people were arrested by the Kukatpally police on Wednesday for allegedly attacking a group, leading to a fatality. The attack, which occurred last Friday, was sparked by a petty dispute. The arrested individuals include Pavan (22), Sridhar (20), Suresh (19) and Ajay Kumar (20)—had confronted G. Ramana (22) and his friends at a tea stall, suspecting them of staring at their female relatives. The altercation escalated and Ramana later died from internal injuries. Police tracked the suspects using surveillance footage.
