Hyderabad Wall Collapse: Seven individuals, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives after a wall of an under-construction apartment collapsed amid heavy rainfall in Bachupally area of Hyderabad on Tuesday evening. The victims, all migrant workers hailing from Odisha and Chhattisgarh, perished under the debris. The bodies were recovered on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the police.
The incident took place at the Renuka Yellamma Temple Colony, where a five-storied residential building was being constructed. The boundary wall, towering at a height of 30-40 feet, crumbled, causing the accident.

The workers were residing in a shed on the construction site where the wall gave way. The deceased have been identified as T. Maji (20), Shanker (22), Raju (25), Khushi (20), Ram Yadav (34), Geetha (32), and the young child, Himanshu. Their bodies have been sent to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination. Five other workers were successfully rescued during an overnight operation, which involved the use of excavators and lasted from 7 pm to 5 am, as per The Hindu report.
The Bachupally police are in the process of receiving the complaint and a case will be registered against the builder for negligence under Section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), according to the officials.
Several areas of Telangana have been witnessing heavy rainfall since Tuesday, resulting in waterlogging and disrupted traffic across the state. Responding to the situation, the Disaster Relief Force (DRF) teams of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were deployed to alleviate water stagnation and clear fallen trees.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'yellow' alert for Telangana on Wednesday, indicating moderate to light rainfall in the state. The weather department wrote in its bulletin on Tuesday that isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka during the next five days. Additionally, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) was predicted over Kerala and Mahe between the 7th and 12th of May.
