President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday inaugurated a range of new tourist attractions at Rashtrapati Nilayam, the President of India’s official retreat in Telangana’s Secunderabad. The attractions include a historic flag post, a maze garden, a children’s park, restored step wells, traditional irrigation systems, Shiva and Nandi sculptures and new enclaves in the knowledge gallery.

The 36-metre-tall flag post commemorates the integration of Hyderabad into the Indian Union in 1948. The maze garden features Murraya Exotica, a fragrant plant native to India. The children’s park offers a fun and safe place for young visitors.

The step wells capture rainwater and enhance water security and sustainability. The irrigation systems showcase the heritage of water management in India. The Shiva and Nandi sculptures depict the Hindu god of destruction and his bull mount. The knowledge gallery provides information about the unification of Hyderabad, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Presidents of India.
