A disturbing incident of ragging and assault has emerged from a Social Welfare Residential School in Rajapeta, Telangana, where a group of approximately 20 Intermediate (senior) students allegedly attacked a Class 10 student with sticks and cricket bats. Six junior students, including the primary victim, were injured in the incident, with two reported to be in serious condition.
The incident reportedly occurred late Saturday night. The school administration attempted to suppress the matter for four days. However, chaos erupted after a video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting parents to stage a protest in front of the college.
The Context
The victim is a Class 10 student who has been studying at the Rajapeta Residential School since Class 5. He currently serves as the school's Vice-Captain. The senior students were reportedly unhappy with him holding this responsibility and opposed his authority. Consequently, they targeted him to settle the score.
Assault In The Dark
According to an NDTV report, a mob of about 20 Intermediate students, armed with bats and sticks, barged into the victim's hostel room. They began abusing and beating him. During the assault, when one of the victim's friends attempted to record a video of the incident, the attackers switched off the lights and rained blows indiscriminately on the juniors.
The armed seniors also brutally beat other Class 10 students who stepped in to save the victim. Two students sustained serious injuries and were referred to a hospital in Bhuvanagiri for treatment, while others received first aid at the Gurukulam’s internal dispensary.

How The Matter Came To Light
Initially, the school management tried to cover up the incident. The truth was revealed only when the victim's parents, Lavanya and Sudarshan, saw the disturbing video of the assault on social media and rushed to the school.

The family displayed severe injury marks on their son's back and chest. They staged a protest outside the college for over two hours, demanding strict action against the principal, teachers, and all the students involved in the attack.
