Hyderabad News: The Telangana government has proposed a budget of Rs 17,677 crore for the municipal administration and urban development department for the fiscal year 2025-26. This announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka during the Assembly session on March 19.
In his budget presentation, Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the state’s H-CITI initiative, which aims to enhance urban infrastructure and manage traffic congestion effectively. As part of this plan, the government has initiated the construction of 31 flyovers, 17 underpasses and 10 road expansion projects in Hyderabad, with an estimated investment of Rs 7,032 crore. Additionally, Rs 150 crore has been allocated for beautification efforts across the city.

Hyderabad: Rs 5,942 Crore Allocated For Integrated Stormwater Drainage Project
The budget also includes provisions for sewage treatment plants at the Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs, designed to handle a total capacity of 20 million litres per day (MLD). These reservoirs will receive replenishment from Godavari waters as part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project.
To address urban flooding, the government has approved an Integrated Stormwater Drainage Project, which will require an investment of Rs 5,942 crore.
Future City Project: India’s First Net-Zero City With Multimodal Connectivity
Bhatti Vikramarka introduced the Future City project, which will be developed under the newly formed Future City Development Authority (FCDA). "This next-generation city will feature multimodal connectivity, an electric public transport network and green buildings, making it India’s first net-zero Future City. It will include specialised zones such as AI City, Pharma Hub, Sports City and a Clean Energy Innovation Zone," he explained, positioning it as a global centre for technology and sustainable development.
SPEED Initiative to Fast-Track 19 Key Urban Development Projects
The Deputy Chief Minister also mentioned the SPEED initiative, which aims to expedite 19 key projects, including the Musi Riverfront Development, Metro rail expansion and construction of new facilities like the Osmania General Hospital.
Hyderabad: Key Budget Allocations
Establishment expenditure of Rs 7,639.96 crore, which comprises Rs 3,085 crore for water supply and sanitation and Rs 1,200 crore for urban development.
Scheme expenditure estimated at Rs 10,037 crore.
Capital outlay of Rs 5,213.67 crore allocated for municipal administration and urban development.
Assistance to local bodies, corporations and urban development authorities projected at Rs 4,701.92 crore.

Vaikuntha Dhamams: Rs 75 crore
Hyderabad Disaster Response Assets Monitoring Agency: Rs 100 crore
Musi Riverfront Development: Rs 1,500 crore
Old City Metro connectivity: Rs 500 crore
Airport Metro connectivity: Rs 100 crore
Multi-modal suburban rail transport: Rs 50 crore
Future City Development Authority: Rs 100 crore
Yadagirigutta Temple Development: Rs 200 crore
