Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Monday, May 5, at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad to discuss the clearance of pending infrastructure projects in the state. The meeting aimed at accelerating several crucial highway and expressway projects to improve connectivity and boost regional development.

Hyderabad Regional Ring Road Update

According to The Hindu report, during the meeting, Reddy discussed the importance of completing the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR), particularly the northern section, which has already been tendered. He urged Gadkari to speed up both financial and Cabinet-level approvals for this part of the project. Reddy also requested that the northern and southern sections of the RRR be developed simultaneously to ensure smooth and timely progress.

Mannanur-Srisailam Stretch Of National Highway 765

In addition to the RRR, the Chief Minister raised other vital projects. One of the key proposals was the sanctioning of an elevated corridor along the Mannanur-Srisailam stretch of National Highway 765, which connects Hyderabad to the popular pilgrimage town of Srisailam.

Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway

Revanth Reddy also called for an early approval of the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway, a major highway project aimed at connecting Telangana’s capital with the upcoming capital city of Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, Officials stated that the Hyderabad-Amaravati Greenfield Expressway, once completed, will be a six-lane project, built from scratch, bypassing existing roadways. While the central government has given preliminary approval, key steps like land acquisition and finalising the Detailed Project Report (DPR) are still pending. The project is expected to reduce travel time significantly, spur economic growth, and create new commercial hubs along the corridor.

Revanth Reddy Highlights Other Projects

Reddy further stressed the importance of developing radial roads to enhance connectivity between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed RRR. Specific roads such as the Hyderabad-Dindi-Mannanur corridor, the Hyderabad-Mancherial Greenfield corridor and the highway from ORR to Manneguda were highlighted.

The meeting also saw the presence of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, along with Telangana Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and BJP MPs K Lakshman, Mallu Ravi, and Anil Kumar Yadav.
