Telangana Weather: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'red alert' for Telangana, indicating the potential for extremely heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours. While Hyderabad may experience only light to moderate showers, accompanied by gusty winds, the impact is expected to be much more severe in several other districts. Areas like Mulugu, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubabad are forecasted to bear the brunt of the intense downpours, with the potential for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

The weather department has stated that the heavy rainfall is expected to continue across Telangana until July 21. However, the red alert is only in place for today, with an orange alert issued for tomorrow and a yellow alert for the day after.

Hyderabad, while not under the red alert, is still likely to witness light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with occasional intense spells and gusty winds throughout the day. The yellow alert for the city is expected to remain in place until July 22.

The rest of the state, excluding Hyderabad, is also anticipated to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period. These weather conditions are attributed to the formation of a low-pressure area over the central and northern parts of the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to move north-westward towards the Odisha coast.

The IMD has warned for the potential widespread waterlogging on roads and in low-lying areas, as well as the possibility of trees and electric poles being uprooted due to the intense rainfall and gusty winds.
