Telangana Weather Update:  Residents of Hyderabad were relieved on Thursday evening when torrential rains poured over several sections of the city, following two days of oppressive, humid heat. However, heavy rain with gusts and thunderstorms caused serious flooding and traffic disruptions, making things difficult for commuters.

Most parts of the city, particularly those in the north and west, such as Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Saidabad, Bandlaguda, Vanasthalipuram, Rajendranagar, Golconda, Tolichowki, Karwan, Mehdipatnam, Charminar, Aramghar, Attapur, and others, experienced strong storms following a day of extreme humidity.

As of 8 PM, Secunderabad reported 74.8 mm of rainfall, followed by Musheerabad at 73 mm, Ramachandrapuram at 68.5 mm, and Kukatpally at 64.8 mm, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).

There have also been reports of severe rainfall in other regions of Telangana, with Sangareddy receiving 93.5 mm and Nagarkurnool recording 87 mm.

A yellow alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the next three days, till August 17, signifying mild to moderate rainfall throughout the state. Although there have been showers, the city will likely remain humid next week.

In order to receive assistance from the Disaster Response Force during the rains, residents were encouraged to call the GHMC helplines at 040-21111111 or 9000113667.

Rain In Tamil Nadu

There is a yellow alert in many districts of Tamil Nadu due to the severe rainfall predicted by the Regional Meteorological Centre for the next five days. The yellow warning, which is normally issued when rainfall is predicted to fall between 64.5 and 115.5 mm, warns of impending poor weather that is likely to worsen.

Throughout the week, extensive rains are possible in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal due to several systems working in tandem. The area is predicted to have isolated periods of severe to very heavy rain (64.5 mm–204.5 mm) through Monday.
