Telangana Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that after a brief relief, several districts of Telangana are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the first week of October. The weather department stated that along with heavy rainfall, multiple districts are expected to receive thunderstorms and strong surface winds. The continuous rainfall is likely to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius; however, it will also lead to issues like waterlogging in key cities like Hyderabad. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the IMD stated that a new low-pressure system is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next few days, leading to heavy rainfall in multiple states. The weather department further stated that while most of the districts will receive moderate rainfall on October 1 and 2, the intensity is likely to increase on October 3 and 4. The authority also stated that the capital city, Hyderabad, is also likely to experience light to moderate rainfall for the next few days.
Earlier last week, Hyderabad received heavy rainfall continuously for two days, leading to waterlogging in the key areas. The waterlogging affected the vehicular movement in several areas and caused trouble to the daily commuters. The weather department has advised the commuters to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconveniences. Hyderabad received 194.1 mm of rainfall in a single day on September 26, which was 408 per cent more than the normal 38.2 mm.
Due to continuous rainfall and the release of water from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, the Musi River is flowing above the danger mark. The IMD also stated that apart from Telangana, several other states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala, are also likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming days.
