A woman died after being allegedly hit by former BRS MLA T Rajaiah's car in Hanumakonda district of Telangana, news agency PTI reported citing police. The incident took place when the woman was crossing the four-lane road in Madikonda on Saturday night. Rajaiah's driver was driving the car when the accident took place. He got the car stopped after some distance as his presence may lead to an untoward incident. 

According to the police, Rajaiah sent the car involved in the accident to the police station and left in another car. The deceased woman’s husband complained to the police about the incident and a case was registered.

In another incident, a van carrying a group of devotees on the roads of Jahangirabad collided with a truck on Sunday morning resulting in a fire. The van, which was en route to Anupshahr to take a holy dip in the Ganga for the Guru Purnima festival, was engulfed in flames after the collision. 

The road accident in Telangana comes in a series of road accidents involving influential people. In a recent incident, Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, was allegedly driving the BMW car that fatally knocked down a 45-year-old woman identified as Kaveri Nakhwa. 

Mihir was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. Mihir’s father Rajesh Shah- a leader of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party in Palghar, and BMW's driver Rajrishi Bidawat were earlier arrested for not cooperating with the police. Following an investigation, the police arrested Mihir and he was sent to judicial custody till July 30. 

The 45-year-old woman was travelling to Worli Koliwada from Mazagaon Docks with her husband when their scooter met with a fatal accident. The couple were thrown in the air and crashed on the bonnet of the car. While the husband managed to jump off the bonnet, the car dragged his wife about 100 metres in an attempt to escape. 

The Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case came just two months after the 17-year-old son of a Pune-based real estate developer Vishal Agarwal, allegedly mowed down two bike-borne IT professionals identified as Ashwini Koshtha and Anish Awadhiya after hitting them while driving in an intoxicated state on May 19.
