According to this report, Afghanistan is the unhappiest country in the world. The report compares nations across the globe on various factors like social support, income, health, freedom, generosity, and the rate of corruption in the country. 1. Afghanistan:

Afghanistan is placed at the bottom of the happiness report, which is 147th position. The country’s low rating indicates its terrible living standards, which are worsened by war and social repression. Citizens here have questionable rights to make life choices.

2. Sierra Leone:

West African country, Sierra Leone is the second saddest country in the world, with the rank at 146th position. The place is still haunted by the civil war that contributed to high political instability and poverty in the country in the long run.

3. Lebanon:

Lebanon is positioned at the third last rank of 145th and is going through an economic crisis that is also fueled by political corruption and social unrest that directly impacts the quality of life of its citizens.

4. Lesotho:

The South African country, Lesotho is ranked 144th due to its economic hardships and health issues, especially high levels of HIV faced by citizens.

5. Zimbabwe:

Zimbabwe is ranked 143rd on the health report because of chronic economic problems faced by the country, which has led to inflation and government issues that leave most of its residents in crisis.

The DRC stands at the 142nd position as per the Happiness Report and a major reason for it lies in its ongoing conflicts and abject poverty.

7. Malawi:

Malawi comes in at number 141 because it is one of the poorest countries around the world with severe drawbacks in the education and healthcare sectors.

8. Comoros:

The island nation, Comoros is on 139th rank and all due credit goes to the nation’s political unrest and underdeveloped economy.

9. Tanzania:

Tanzania stands at the 138th rank because, despite the country’s natural beauty, it has poverty and poor educational facilities.

10. Mozambique

Mozambique ranks at 137th and people there currently suffer from extremely high poverty rates along with difficulties in access to healthcare.

India stands at position 118 of 147 nations in the World Happiness Report 2025, an improvement from its last standing of 126th in the previous year. India is one of the world's fastest-growing economies and still has a low happiness rating caused by many socio-economic conditions and a lack of policies in the education, health and infrastructure sectors.
