December Cold Moon Date:  December’s Supermoon is also known as the Cold Moon, which will take place on December 4th, after sunset. It is the last full moon of this year and the third consecutive supermoon of the year, as reported by EarthSky. It will shine brighter and larger in the nighttime sky. As per the same source, the moon will reach its peak, illuminating the sky at around 6:15 PM EST, which is at 4:45 AM IST on December 5th for Skywatchers in India. This time is perfect for moon viewing and capturing photos.

A supermoon takes place when the full moon's orbit places it at its nearest point to the Earth in its elliptical orbit. During this Cold Supermoon, it will be around 357,000 km from Earth, which makes it the second-closest full Moon of the year. Alongside, it is the second-largest supermoon of the year, as the October supermoon was a little bigger than this one. This proximity will make the moon appear larger and brighter than a usual full moon.

The reason December’s supermoon is known as the Cold Moon is due to the fact that it occurs during the cold part of the year, which is when nights seem long. The moonrise in December will be breathtakingly beautiful, especially when the moon is near the eastern horizon just after sunset, and the moon illusion will embrace the sky.
