Hours after former US President Donald Trump braved an assassination attempt during his poll rally in Pennsylvania, Chinese online retailers began selling the T-shirts bearing his picture after the incident. The picture shows Trump with blood on his face, clenching his fist and encouraging his supporters. As per a report by the South China Morning Post, the first batch of T-shirts was dispatched for sale on Taobao, a popular Chinese e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba, within two hours of the attack.
"As soon as we saw the news about the shooting, we listed the T-shirts on Taobao. Although we hadn't even printed them yet, we received over 2,000 orders from both China and the USA within three hours," Li Jinwei, a seller on the Chinese online shopping platform Taobao, said.
Li Jinwei mentioned that the T-shirt factory is located in the northern province of Hebei. Therefore, when the orders came in, the T-shirt factories simply downloaded the relevant images and quickly produced the merchandise using their digital printing capabilities. He stated that their factory can produce approximately one T-shirt per minute.
The T-shirt featuring Donald Trump has an image of the attack on him, with the caption "Shooting Makes Me Stronger."
Amid a fervid election campaign in the United States (US), former President Donald Trump had an extremely close shave after a bullet from gunfire pierced his ear during a rally in western Pennsylvania’s Butler. Trump was immediately taken off the stage and escorted out by Secret Service agents to his vehicle. Anthony Guglielmi, the spokesperson for the US Secret Service, said the former US President was safe and more information in this regard will be divulged as it becomes available.
The videos of the incident are vehemently making the rounds across social media platforms. When the gunshot was heard, Trump could be seen grabbing his right ear while kneeling down behind the podium. Following the incident, a swarm of US Secret Service agents rushed to cover him.
