Dwayne Johnson shared his gratitude towards fans and followers for showing love to his latest release, The Smashing Machine, after it failed to perform at the box office. The film, which was released in theatres on October 3, has grossed USD 5.9 million since its opening, as per Money Control. This is the lowest opening of Dwayne’s career. Recently, he reacted to the underperformance of the film, yet he thanked the film.

While sharing glimpses from his character on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson wrote, “From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched “The Smashing Machine”. In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results — but what I realized you can control is your performance, and your commitment to completely disappear and go elsewhere. And I will always run to that opportunity. It was my honor to transform in this role for my director Benny Safdie @bowedtie. Thank you brother for believing in me. Truth is this film has changed my life. With deep gratitude, respect and radical empathy, dj.”

Fans showcased their love to his post and their thoughts. A fan said, “DJ - I got to see TSM twice. First on Thursday and then once more with my dad over the weekend. Especially knowing how Benny chose to end the film after the first viewing, by the time the "Corridor of Dreams" needle drop happened, I was fully in tears. You delivered an incredible performance, and it was very impressive to see the places you went with everyone in the cast. As a big fan, I am so proud of this project and can't wait to see more choices like this.” Another wrote, “This is what happens when you don't chase box office hits and I'm here for it, loved the performance and story depth.” A comment read, “It deserves to do better at the box office than it currently is, great performance DJ.”
