Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara was arrested at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday on alleged sexual assault charges. Reported by Variety, the popular Spanish Amazon Prime teen film β€˜My Fault, Culpa Mia’ fame actor was not arrested for anything related to the event. The actor had an active international warrant out against him for an alleged sexual assault case in France. 

The actor is 22 and was set to receive an award called the Filming Italy prize on the sidelines of the festival. However, the arrest took place on the Lido on Saturday, with the Venice police confirming the arrest of the teen actor. Gabriel Guevara was due to attend a press conference and awards ceremony at the film festival.

According to a report in India Today, the Venice Film Festival issued the statement and said, β€œFollowing the news articles which have been emerging on various websites, regarding the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara being arrested in Venice, the Biennale hereby clarifies that his presence in Venice was not linked to any events or productions related to the 80th Venice International Film Festival.”

The actor made his debut in the Spanish adaptation of the Nordic teen series titled, β€˜Skam.’ He then starred in the Paramount series β€˜Bose.’ Gabriel is mainly known for his role in β€˜How to Screw it All Up’ and also was seen in β€˜You’re Nothing Special.’ He is currently in protective custody.
