The plot is about an ambitious American student who travels to Oxford in England to fulfil her dreams. But she encounters a charming local, who changes both their lives. The author of the novel, Julia Whelan, earlier said in a statement, “It was a finite of period of time that we were going to be there, like in the story. But it made the relationship that much more heightened because there was less pressure about where it was going to go. I actually think it’s those experiences that we take for granted. They become so much more important to you as memories of your life.”

My Oxford Year stars Sofia Carson as Anna De La Vega, Corey Mylchreest as Jamie Davenport, Dougray Scott as William Davenport, Jamie's father, Catherine McCormack as Antonia Davenport, Jamie's mother, Harry Trevaldwyn as Charlie Butler, Hugh Coles as Ridley, Poppy Gilbert as Cecelia Knowles and Barney Harris as Ian. It has been directed by Iain Morris and produced by Laura Quicksilver, George Berman under the production companies of Temple Hill Entertainment and Presque Isle Films.
