The Last Of Us 2 Episode 3: HBO viewers were shocked last week when Joel (Pedro Pascal), the series' protagonist, suffered the same horrific fate as his video game counterpart in The Last of Us Season 2. In order to save Ellie (Bella Ramsey) from probable death, he killed a hospital full of fireflies five years prior. Five survivors of that atrocity found him and exacted retribution.

Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) went to considerable lengths to torture Joel to death, first slashing him in the neck and then hitting him senselessly with a golf club, as retaliation for killing her father, an unarmed doctor. Where to watch The Last Of Us Season 2? What next after Joel death? What will Ellie do?

Ellie In The Last Of Us 2 Episode 3

Episode 3 leapt ahead a few months to the spring day when Ellie was permitted to return home after a frigid open in which we witnessed Tommy (Gabriel Luna) bid farewell to his brother's body and Ellie awaken at the Jackson Hospital, screaming as she relived Joel's death. She was informed by Dina (Isabela Merced) that evening that she had first lied and that she was in fact aware of the names and home base of Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) and the other members of the crew who helped kill Joel in a violent manner.

"I wish I’d been able to let him off the hook for whatever it was he thinks he did. I guess I’m gonna have let myself off the hook for that." Ellie adds cheekily after claiming that Joel had saved her numerous times. I suppose I will have to excuse myself for it. She informs Gail that she didn't speak to Joel again after the fight at the dance. She wishes she had talked to him when she saw him on the porch the night before he passed away. However, she goes on to clarify that your relationship isn't defined by the final words you speak to someone.

The episode hints that Bella Ramsey's character Ellie, who set out to track down Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), the person who killed Joel (Pedro Pascal), is now torn between the two factions.

Who Are Seraphites?

The show shifted from Jackson to a group of hikers in the Seattle forests about 20 minutes into the segment. The most distinctive feature of the group was that every single one of the men had scars resembling Glasgow smiles cut into their faces, even though they all had shaven hair and wore cloaks with an enigmatic insignia on the back.

One of the guys was strolling with a young girl in the opening scene, who was most likely his daughter, and telling her that they were leaving their house to get away from a conflict. However, then it seemed like the gang was attacked, and later in the episode, Ellie and Dina found their bodies while following the same route to Seattle. Anyone who has played the video game would know that they are Seraphites, even if the show hasn't disclosed who they are yet.

The Seraphites, also called the Scars, belong to a religious cult that was established in Seattle in the years following the first Cordyceps pandemic breakout. The group's beliefs were based on the teachings of a woman known as the Prophet. The Prophet in The Last of Us Part II has been dead for a while, but we know that she preached living off the land and avoiding anything made in the "Old World" since she thought the breakout was a punishment for humanity's over-reliance on technology. Even while the Seraphites were once a peaceful group, as their devotion increased, they started adopting more bizarre and cruel customs, as explained by Vanity Fair.
