Police in Slidell, Louisiana, are searching for a suspect who dramatically disguised himself as an injured man before robbing a bank in broad daylight, only to abandon the act as soon as he escaped with cash. The robbery took place on November 7, and surveillance footage of the incident was released this week, sparking widespread attention due to the robber’s unusual choice of costume.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the suspect walked into the bank, appearing to be handicapped or severely injured. He wore a neck brace, leaned heavily on a cane, and walked with an exaggerated limp. The strange disguise was paired with a gray tracksuit, bucket hat, medical face mask, sunglasses, and a clear fanny pack, making him almost unrecognisable. Officers noted that the cane was visibly too short for his height, adding to the dramatic performance.

Demanding Cash Inside The Bank
Once at the teller’s counter, the man passed a note and loudly declared that the building was being robbed. The teller complied, placing an undisclosed amount of cash on the counter. The suspect quickly scooped the money into his fanny pack before exiting the bank.
The moment he stepped outside, his limp disappeared entirely, and he was seen sprinting down Choctaw Drive toward a nearby neighbourhood. Surveillance footage outside the building captured his sudden transformation from slow-moving victim to agile runner.
Police K-9 units were deployed in an attempt to track him, though investigators believe he may have escaped the area in a getaway vehicle.
Police Description And Appeal For Information
Authorities described the suspect as a Black male wearing a gray tracksuit, neck brace, COVID-style mask, bucket hat, and carrying a cane. His face was concealed throughout the robbery, making identification difficult.
Slidell Police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the bank at the time, to come forward. Tipsters can contact the department at 985-643-3131 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111. Anonymous callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
