Chicago Mass Shooting: A late-night drive-by shooting in Chicago’s River North neighbourhood has left the city shaken. Around 11 pm (local time) on Wednesday, gunfire erupted outside the Artis Lounge, located in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, killing four people and injuring at least 14 others. The mass shooting occurred just after a listening party for local rapper Mello Buckzz, drawing a crowd of young adults outside the club.

According to police and witness reports, a dark-colored vehicle drove past the venue, and one or more suspects opened fire on the group gathered outside. The shooters quickly fled the scene, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Victims Identified, Community In Mourning

The four individuals who lost their lives in the attack include two men, aged 24 and 25, and two women, one of whom has been identified as 26-year-old Taylor Walker, a hair stylist from Chicago’s South Side. Family members told FOX 32 that Walker had attended the event prior to the shooting.

Among the 14 injured, four women between the ages of 21 and 31 remain in critical condition. The other ten victims, all in their 20s and 30s, were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Chicago police confirmed that eight victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including gunshot wounds to the shin, thigh, knee, hand, forearm, and foot. All were last listed in good condition after receiving treatment.

Rapper Mello Buckzz Reacts

Rising Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz, whose real name is Melanie Doyle, took to Instagram to express sorrow and disbelief following the tragedy. She mourned the loss of friends and offered prayers for the injured, calling the night “a nightmare that no one saw coming.”

The Artis Lounge, where the incident occurred, sits on the site of the former Hush nightclub, which was previously shut down due to safety concerns after a fatal shooting. Chicago police continue to investigate the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
