As former President Donald Trump ramps up his campaign, in a recent Fox News interview, the republican nominee suggested that tech billionaire Elon Musk could have a significant role in a potential second Trump administration.
In an interview with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures, Donald Trump lauded Musk as ‘a great business guy’ and ‘a great cost-cutter’. He mentioned, “He [Musk] claimed, ‘I could reduce costs without impacting anyone.’” When questioned about whether Musk would be part of his Cabinet if he were to return to office, Trump noted, “He doesn't want to be in the Cabinet.”
Musk has set his sights on ambitious goals in outer space. Trump stated that Musk has promised to reach Mars before the end of his administration, ideally ahead of China or Russia, and highlighted that he created Space Force during his first term in 2019.
Earlier in August, Musk had suggested creating a ‘government efficiency commission’ to ensure effective use of taxpayer funds. Trump supported the proposal, lauding Musk as "the greatest cutter" for his stringent management style at Tesla and SpaceX. Trump noted Musk's willingness to dismiss underperforming employees without hesitation, expressing admiration for his approach.
Elon Musk's Growing Role In Trump's Campaign
Musk has been in frequent communication with Trump, engaging in discussions several times a week and investing in get-out-the-vote efforts for the former president. Last week, Musk joined Trump at a rally held at the site of an assassination attempt, where Trump invited him on stage and praised him as a truly incredible guy.
During his first public appearance with Trump in this campaign, Musk said, “This is the most important election of our lifetime. President Trump must win to preserve the Constitution and democracy in America.”
