Gujarat Women Killed In US Crash: Three women were killed in a freak car crash in the US city of Greenville on Friday afternoon (local time), the Greenville County Coroner’s Office informed. Though the identities of the deceased women were not immediately disclosed by the local authorities, a report by Hindustan Times identified them as residents of Gujarat's Anand district. As per the report, the women who lost their lives in the accident were Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel, and Manishaben Patel.
According to officials, the accident took place when an SUV veered off the roadway, crossed all lanes of Interstate 85, ran up an embankment, and got hurled nearly 20 feet in the air before landing into trees on the other side of Staunton Bridge in Greenville county. "It is obvious they were travelling above the posted speed limit," Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis was quoted as saying by news outlet WSPA.
No other cars were involved in the crash, he said. The coroner’s office was probing with other agencies to ascertain how fast the car would have been going. Ellis further said that the vehicle was found shattered into multiple pieces. "Very seldom do you see a vehicle that leaves the roadway at such a high rate of speed that it jumps 4-6 lanes of traffic and lands in the trees approximately 20 feet,” Ellis stated.
"When you got family, probably related, three deceased it is nothing that you want to ever see," he added. South Carolina Highway Patrol personnel, Gannt Fire and Rescue teams and multiple Greenville County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) units rushed to the scene following the incident. Some reports suggest one of the passengers survived the crash but termed their condition uncertain. The cause of the crash was not clear in the immediate aftermath of the accident.
