Diwali, the Festival of Lights, takes on even greater significance in the United States. For the first time, California, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut have declared it an official state holiday, marking a historic recognition of one of India’s most cherished festivals. Rooted in the Hindu epic Ramayana, Diwali celebrates the return of Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, symbolising the victory of light over darkness. As festivities light up cities across the country, here are some of the best places to celebrate Diwali in the US, as highlighted by TimeOut.
