Apple iPhone 15 series has got the world excited for a long time. And as we head closer to September 12, when the company will finally release the upcoming phones, rumours are spicing up the environment every minute. Adding to the zing, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a reliable name for Apple-related details before launch, claims that all iPhone 15 series phones and AirPods Pro will have a USB Type-C port. This comes on the expected lines as previous leaks.
In his latest 'Power On' edition, Gurman stated that the company may market the port as a single solution to charge Apple products such as Macs, iPads, and AirPods, besides the new iPhone 15 phones. Plus, the top-end model could debut with 'breakthrough' file transfer speeds and faster charging, the chief correspondent added. Above all, the change will make future products compatible with other widely used chargers across the globe.
While the company has resisted the change in the past, it may not highlight the reasons behind the changes at the September event, which can be attributed to the recent legislation of the European Union.
According to Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant has refuted this switch giving reasons such as the environmental repercussions of scrapping the Lighting cable in favour of the USB-C and the influence of the government on the design of the upcoming products. This change will also limit the royalties for the company from programs like Apple's Made for iPhone and other licenses.
Shifting away from the Type-C port, the journalist added that the upcoming iPhones which will likely include iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, may run on iOS 17 operating system out of the box.
