Sony PS5 is among the popular gaming consoles loved by the gamer community. And reportedly, the Japanese tech maker could be working on a new slimmer alternative to the PlayStation 5. The alleged PS5 Slim model appeared in a video on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter). It does have a similar design to the PS5 available in the market.

According to Indian Express, the device will likely have a detachable disc unit and a more compact design than the current iteration. Previously, it was traced on a Chinese forum, and then an Australian PS repair store (named Better Way Electronics) circulated a video of a case that could likely be of the PS5 Slim.

In the video shared by BwE (@BeE_Dev), two USB-C ports are visible on the front, different from the current placement of one Type-C and one USB port on the PS5. It has a signature PS look with a curvy design, a space for disc attachment and vents on both sides. The Sony branding is visible on the white chassis of the console.

As per Insider Gaming, the company is working on a PlayStation5 with a disc drive that may be detachable and may debut next month. The aim could be to allow more flexibility in terms of disc drives in PS devices. It could be a cheaper alternative to the current models of the Playstation (digital and disc) available in the market. It may be an attempt from Sony to offer more options to gamers in the gaming consoles category.
