The world’s most popular TikTok celebrity, Khaby Lame, has allegedly left the United States amid an immigration crackdown in the country. Lame, who has millions of followers, was detained at Las Vegas airport, allegedly for overstaying his visa. 

The Senegalese-Italian social media star was, however, granted permission to leave the country without a deportation order, The Hindu reported, citing a spokesperson for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement department. He arrived in the US on April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa.

Lame was permitted a voluntary departure. His deportation would have prevented him from lawfully entering the US for over a decade. Lame hasn't yet officially commented on the development.  

Who Is Khaby Lame

Khaby Lame is a famous social media star known for his silent comedy. He has 16.3 crore followers on TikTok. Lame rose to fame during the Covid pandemic and is known for making videos on bizarre and complicated ‘life hacks’.

Khaby Lame was born on March 9, 2000, in Senegal, and at the age of one, he moved to Italy with his family. They settled in Chivasso and in the year 2022, he obtained Italian citizenship.

He has signed deals with several major brands, including Hugo Boss. 
 

Lame has also served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Just a few weeks before being taken into custody, he was seen at the Met Gala in New York.
