Trump Scotland Visit: US President Donald Trump, during a visit to Scotland, issued a stern warning to European nations over rising immigration, calling it a “horrible invasion” and claiming it is “killing Europe.” Speaking to reporters after landing from Air Force One, Trump urged European leaders to “get their act together” or risk losing the continent altogether.

“You better get your act together. You’re not going to have Europe anymore. You got to get your act together,” Trump said, stressing that many countries are under pressure due to growing migrant influxes. Despite his European roots—his mother emigrated from Scotland—Trump maintained a hardline stance. "Some leaders have not let it happen and they’re not getting proper credit. This immigration is killing Europe,” he added, without naming specific leaders.

The remarks come amid a continued surge in migration to Europe, with the UN estimating that about 87 million international migrants were living in Europe as of 2020. Trump’s language mirrors his earlier rhetoric used during his tenure in the White House, and now again since returning to power in January.

US Border Crackdown And Domestic Pushback

Trump also highlighted his administration’s strict border enforcement back home. “As you know, last month, we had nobody entering our country. We took out a lot of bad people,” he said, referring to the US-Mexico border. Since taking office again, Trump has spearheaded one of the largest migrant deportation programs in US history. Thousands have already been deported under his administration. However, his policies have triggered widespread backlash and protests across the United States, which remains the country with the largest immigrant population globally.

Golf, Politics, And Personal History

Trump is currently on a multi-stop European tour that combines political meetings with personal milestones. Over the weekend, he is staying at his Turnberry golf property on Scotland’s west coast and will then travel to Aberdeen to inaugurate a second golf course, named in honor of his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born on a Scottish island.

During his trip, Trump will meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, calling their meeting a celebration of a finalized trade deal. “It’s a great deal for both,” he said. He also plans to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and may hold talks with Scottish leader John Swinney, who had previously supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 US election.
