Two shooters from Lucknow, both wanted in connection with murders in Punjab’s Ferozepur and Tarn Taran, were arrested in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh and Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF). The accused, identified as Bikramjit Vicky and Punjab Singh, were arrested at a house in Sector 14 of Indiranagar, Lucknow, where they were living as tenants. An SUV was also seized during the operation.
Bikramjit Vicky is accused of murdering Gurpreet Singh Gopi Mahal in Tarn Taran, an incident that occurred in March 2024. Authorities reported that Gurpreet Singh Gopi Chola, a member of the AAP party, was shot while waiting at a railway crossing near Goindwal Sahib on March 1, 2024.
Family members indicated that Gopi Chola was en route to Sultanpur Lodhi court for a hearing at the time of the shooting. Following the incident, an investigation was launched.
The other accused, Punjab Singh, is an accused in the triple murder in Ferozepur in September 2024. The shooting took place near Akalgarh Gurudwara in Ferozepur on September 3 when the 26-year-old woman, Jaspreet Kaur, accompanied by cousin Dildeep Singh and others, were on their way to buy items for the woman's wedding next month.
Suddenly, six accused riding two motor vehicles intercepted their vehicle and allegedly opened indiscriminate firing. Several rounds were fired and Jaspreet died while Dildeep and one other later succumbed to injuries.
Following the incident, the Maharashtra Police had arrested seven men in Aurangabad after an operation based on intelligence from the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
